Introduction:

Polybenzimidazole (PBI) is a high-performance synthetic polymer renowned for its excellent high-temperature resistance, mechanical strength, and chemical stability.Primarily used in applications requiring extreme environments. The benzimidazole ring in the molecular structure of polybenzimidazole gives it excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance.

Properties
High Temperature Resistance:Polybenzimidazole has a heat distortion temperature up to 435°C, allowing for long-term use in high-temperature environments without degradation.
Mechanical Strength:Tensile strength reaches 160 MPa, and Rockwell hardness is 125 mm, exhibiting extremely high mechanical properties.
Chemical Stability:Excellent resistance to most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.
Electrical Insulation:Insulation strength is 23 kV/mm², and volume resistivity is 2 x 10¹⁵ ohm-cm, making it suitable for electronic and electrical applications.

Applications
Aerospace:Used to manufacture high-temperature resistant components, such as engine parts and thermal insulation materials.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industries:Used for corrosion-resistant pipes, valves, and seals.
Electronics Industry:Used to manufacture liquid crystal display (LCD) panels and insulating materials.

Glass Manufacturing: Tools and molds used in high-temperature environments.

Processing Technology: Polybenzimidazole (PBI) is typically processed by compression molding, with the following steps:

Pretreatment: Dry powdered PBI at 120-150ºC for 4-6 hours to remove moisture.

Compression Molding: Compression molding is performed at a temperature of 350-400ºC and a pressure of 10-20 MPa.

Post-treatment: The molded parts require annealing at 250-300ºC to eliminate internal stress.
